Finding Happiness in Sales

Professional Success Can Lead to Helping Others

Achieving professional goals can be a major highlight in a person’s life. Reaching a goal often gives you the energy boost that will further motivate you towards your next benchmark. Aside from achieving what you set out to achieve and proving something to yourself, one of the great benefits of professional success is the ability to take care of the people around you. As great as it feels to be independent and take care of yourself, it feels even better care for others.

“Carve your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you.”
― Shannon L. Alder

Wealth can increase your happiness factor because it gives you the ability to help others. Once professional success is reached there are always more plateaus to strive for, but running parallel to that, people find the more they contribute to the happiness of others, the more happiness fills their own tank. The ultimate win/win scenario. It is in this way that sales can improve people’s lives!

“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.”
― John Holmes

In one way sales improves people’s lives because the salesperson is providing the buyer with something they want. As stipulated in the article 5 Reasons I Love Sales, and Why You Just Might Too by Jeff Shore writing for entrepreneur.com

People buy for one reason: they are looking to improve their lives in some way. Whether a purchase is personal or for business, a big ticket or an impulse item, everyone has the same goal. The salesperson is the facilitator of that life improvement. There are few things that are as satisfying to me as knowing I am making someone’s life a little (or a lot) better. That is one way sales improve people’s lives, but on a grander scale, sales can improve people’s lives in a big picture sort of way. Every company has their own philosophy. At Smart Circle, there’s a philosophy of co-operation, of building individual success by building the success of others. The more people an individual can help become successful, the more success that individual creates for him or herself.
Yes, financial successes abound, but after a while this becomes less important than helping others find that financial success or professional success. As great as it feels to achieve personal milestones, it feels even more exciting to watch someone you’ve mentored do the same. So sales can improve people’s lives on a day-to-day level, one sale at a time, but stepping back to see the bigger picture, sales can also improve people’s lives by giving them the opportunity to help others improve their lives.

“We only have what we give.”
― Isabel Allende
