Ever wonder exactly what the difference is between your average salesperson and stellar salespeople? It’s probably a lot simpler than you think. Success in sales isn’t simply a question of how smart the salesperson is, or how persuasive they are, or how knowledgeable they are. The difference between average results and stupendous results is how much work the salesperson invests in those results.
It is time to talk less and commit to doing more! Successful salespeople don’t talk about working hard or think about working hard. They work…really, really hard. A successful person determines exactly what they need to do to succeed and then they put themselves on a strict course of doing. Create a plan of action that will lead to your success and then follow that plan. Set realistic goals and attach specific dates to those goals.
One thing that you need to realize is that time is a very valuable and finite resource. In the world we live in, distractions are all around us. From cell phones, to commitments with friends, to Netflix, we all need to be careful with how we spend our time. People who do not value their time come in a little later, work a little slower, and leave a little earlier. If you are not sure where all your time is going during the day, try tracking exactly what you are doing all day. Keep a log of tasks that you are carrying out and track the time you spend. This will help you realize exactly what you spend your day doing which can be vital to jumpstarting your success. A successful salesperson realizes there’s no shortcut to the top, but with more dedication, perseverance, and more hard work, they can get there sooner.
Thomas Edison, the man who failed a thousand times before successfully inventing the light bulb, is an authority on hard work. When asked how he felt about a thousand failures he said, “I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.” Success is only attainable through hard work and now is the nest time to recommit to your dreams. Run a self evaluation on how you spend your day and what tasks make it up. Then set a goal with realistic steps towards the end. After this there is only one thing left to do…work hard until you achieve your goals.
Get motivated with these quotes on hard work and why it matters:
“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” -Pele
“To be a champion, I think you have to see the big picture. It’s not about winning and losing; it’s about every day hard work and about thriving on a challenge. It’s about embracing the pain that you’ll experience at the end of a race and not being afraid. I think people think too hard and get afraid of a certain challenge.” -Summer Sanders
“Nothing ever comes to one, that is worth having, except as a result of hard work.” -Booker T. Washington
